Background
39 organisations, along with their technology partners, reached the 13 shortlists for the Information Age Effective IT Awards, the UK's most prestigious set of awards for users and implementers of IT.
The projects were selected from more than 400 entries. The judges praised the quality and the scope of the entries, which ranged from large, multi-million pound projects to much smaller implementations of widely available technology.
The Information Age Effective IT Awards are designed to highlight the effective use of technology across a broad range of industries and across all company sizes. The emphasis is on rewarding projects that have not only helped save money, but that have delivered tangible benefits to the business in terms of improved business processes or enhanced capabilities. The Effective IT programme raised £34,000 for disadvantaged children in 2004 and Information Age and the sponsors expect to exceed that figure this year.
