DatamonitorLaunch of Corporate Vision solution brings resource, skills and cost visibility to corporate performance management; consigning spreadsheets to the 20th Century

Atlantic Global Plc, a UK business solutions provider, has launched a new dashboard solution to help companies understand their project portfolio, management and cost structures better.

The new Web-based product, called Corporate Vision, is billed by the Bradford-based firm as a "business portfolio management solution" that offers customers greater visibility into the composition of their portfolio of projects and resources and their related costs.

The software blends role-based dashboarding capabilities with classic project portfolio management capabilities, both of which are layered across enterprise performance management applications like financial planning and budgeting.

Using a task-centric paradigm, project managers are much better equipped to manage resource, allocate time and resources and measure progress against project milestones.

The project information is surfaced to desktops for real-time monitoring. Tools are provided to drill-down into underlying detail and develop predictive models for what-if analysis - for example to see how modifications to a business plan impact resources, costs and delivery schedules.

According to Eugene Blaine, CEO of Atlantic Global, the software offers a more effective alternative to unwieldy spreadsheet-based approaches to performance management.

"When it comes to the management and performance of an organization's most valuable resource, its people, we still rely on reams of manually-created spreadsheets," he said.

"In a typical organization more than 20% of people's time is spent developing and populating these spreadsheets'".

Blaine also added that the software overcomes the limitations of traditional task-based project management tools that typically manage projects as discrete entities.

Atlantic Global says Corporate Vision was developed in partnership with Norwich Union and Pfizer. The company likes to position it as a supplement to existing corporate performance management (CPM) solutions that focus primarily on measuring key operational processes.

"While it does all the resourcing, planning and budgeting found in traditional portfolio management tools, it's the reporting and Web dashboard that we've bolted onto this information that takes us into the CPM space," Blaine said.

"We supplement CPM by focusing on monitoring the delivery of people-intensive services and project-driven enterprises."

Corporate Vision runs on Windows 2000 and above while the Web server runs on Windows NT. The software works with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases. Integration with popular ERP and CRM business applications, project management tools (like Microsoft Project and Primavera), and business intelligence (BI) applications (Cognos and Business Objects) is also built into the application.

Atlantic Global claims it only takes a week to deploy a 100-seat implementation.

Atlantic Global was founded in 1993 with offices in London and New York. The company listed on the AlM market in 2001. Its customer base includes Global 1000s like Barclays Bank, Colt Telecommunications.
